Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s continues strong partnership with the National Archery in the Schools Program with $100,000 grant through the Outdoor Fund
WALDO, Wis. – The Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Outdoor Fund is proud to award a $100,000 grant to the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP®) to support educational programming for more than one million students across North America and offset equipment costs for new schools joining the program.
NASP® embodies the efforts of Bass Pro Shops and its founder, noted conservationist Johnny Morris, to inspire everyone to love, enjoy and conserve the great outdoors by introducing new audiences to nature and outdoor recreation. When a school incorporates the NASP curriculum in its physical education offerings, more than 100 students on average participate in the sport at that location annually, with two-thirds of participants being first-time archers.
“We are proud and excited to continue our support for NASP and these young sportsmen and women,” said Johnny Morris, noted conservationist and founder of Bass Pro Shops. “We are committed to introducing new audiences to the outdoors at Bass Pro Shops, and the National Archery in the Schools Program has a long and proud history of doing just that, helping young people of all ages and backgrounds get into the outdoors and participate in this growing sport. It is so rewarding to see thousands of young archers across the nation reap the positive benefits of this program.”
With an unblemished 21-year safety record and more than 1,300 new schools added per year, NASP® continues to grow the sport of archery and support the mission of educators though in-school archery. This landmark Outdoor Fund grant, made possible by the generosity of Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s customers rounding up purchases in-store and online, provides outdoor gear for NASP® programming that directly impacts thousands of students nationwide. This is the sixth consecutive year that the Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Outdoor Fund has supported the National Archery in the Schools Program with similar significant grants.
“We are extremely grateful to the Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Outdoor Fund for their continued support of NASP®. Through these annual generous grants, we have utilized 100% of the funding for schools. We are grateful that when our NASP® families shop at their local Bass Pro Shops or Cabela’s retail store, they can ‘round up for conservation’ at the register. By doing so, they are personally helping a NASP® school get started,” NASP® President Tommy Floyd said. “Our longstanding relationship with the Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s organization is indeed one of our most treasured relationships!”
Guided by the visionary leadership of Bass Pro Shops founder Johnny Morris, the Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Outdoor Fund unites more than 200 million passionate customers with dedicated team members, industry partners and leading conservation organizations like the National Archery in the Schools Program. Through these conservation initiatives, Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s is creating North America’s largest conservation movement to collectively shape the future of the outdoors and all who love it for generations to come.
